SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Ohio senior Melissa Griffin has been named 2007 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-America, as announced by the association Wednesday afternoon.

Griffin becomes just the fourth Ohio player to earn AVCA Honorable Mention All-America honors, joining former Bobcats Julia Winkfield (2005), Briana Adamovsky (2004) and Laura Hageman (2003).

The 2007 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year had an outstanding final season, averaging 4.09 kills per game and hitting .352. Griffin totaled 470 kills on the season, the fourth-best single season mark at Ohio, and became the program's all-time kills leader, finishing her career with 1,678 kills.

Along with establishing a new career kills mark, Griffin also completed her career at Ohio first in points (1,678) and hitting percentage (.349) and third in total blocks (433).
