Ohio Volleyball Visits Chauncey Elementary

ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio volleyball team took time out of its busy spring schedule Thursday afternoon to visit an afterschool program at Chauncey Elementary School. The young students had a chance to interact with the Bobcat players as the class participated in different games and sports activities with the team.

"This was a wonderful opportunity for our team to unite with and give back to the community," said Head Coach Ryan Theis. "We want to be as involved as possible in the community and one of the best ways to do so is through working with community youth."

Theis, who has been at the helm of the Bobcat program for just under two months, says he intends to make community involvement an important part of Ohio volleyball. "We want to make reaching out to the community a staple in our program," explained Theis. "The community is instrumental in our program's success and we would like to reach out and provide positive role models whenever possible."

The players enjoy getting involved in the community and view it as a way they can reciprocate the support the local community and fans give them.

"This team is very honored and appreciative of the support it receives from the community and it means a lot to the players to be able to get out and be involved," said Theis.
