ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Ohio's Germane Lindsey lost his first match in the 141 pound bracket at the NCAA National Tournament in St. Louis, but after winning his next bout in the consolation bracket Lindsey will wrestle again on Friday afternoon.

Lindsey is the first Bobcat wrestler to win a bout at nationals since Jake Percival took third place at 157 pounds in 2005.

In the double-elimination tournament, wrestlers compete in the championship and consolation brackets. A loss in the championship bracket sends a competitor down to the consolation bracket while a loss in the consolation bracket causes a wrestler to be eliminated from the tournament.

Lindsey's first bout of the tournament was against Boise State's Levi Jones. The freshman lost the match 8-2, but he rebounded in the consolation bracket.

Lindsey defeated Penn's Richard Rappo by a 9-6 decision Thursday night, moving on to a Friday afternoon bout against Cornell's Adam Frey.

Frey and Lindsey met at the Southern Scuffle on Dec. 30 where the Cornell sophomore won 12-5.

Frey has posted a 10-2 record this season at 141 pounds and qualified for the NCAA Tournament in a similar fashion to Lindsey - by taking third in the EIWA conference tournament.

Lindsey improved his record to 20-16 overall after posting a 1-1 record on Thursday.
