ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio women's track and field team will compete in the Bowling Green BGSU Quadrangular on Friday night at Perry Fieldhouse. Field events are set to begin at 5 p.m. with track events following at 6 p.m.

Toledo, Central Michigan, Bowling Green and the Bobcats will all compete in the event just three weeks before the MAC Championships on Feb. 29 at Eastern Michigan.

"Just three weeks away from the MAC Championships it's good to compete against all MAC opponents," said head coach Clay Calkins.

Ohio has battled MAC teams prior to this event, but never in such quantity. The Bobcats competed against Kent State along with Youngstown State at the Kent State Double Dual on Jan. 18 and against Akron last weekend at the Akron Open. This will be the second time Ohio will compete at Bowling Green's Perry Fieldhouse, having opened the season at the Falcons' Women's Challenge on Jan. 12.

Ohio's Jessie Tanner (Newark, Ohio) will look to see where she ranks amongst the MAC in the 20-lb. weight throw after she showed last weekend she is already the best in Ohio history. Tanner set a new school record at the Akron Open with a toss of 55 feet, 7.50 inches. It was the junior's best throw this season by more than eight inches - she hit 54 feet, 11.25 inches on Jan. 18 at the Kent State Double Dual. Tanner eclipsed Jaclyn Lugaila's mark of 55 feet, 5.75 inches set in 2006. Tanner took first in the weight throw with her record-setting throw for the second consecutive meet. She also took first in the weight throw at the Capital Invitational on Jan. 25.

While it wasn't a school record, Ohio's Julia Weisenborn (Bowling Green, Ohio) set a new season best mark for the Bobcats in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:13.52, shaving a whopping 44 seconds of Kendra Churchill's (Dublin, Ohio) previous team-best time of 18:57.98.

Other team season-best marks set at last weekends Akron Open included Shareyna Spear's (Toledo, Ohio) 33-03.75 mark in the triple jump, Kristi Sturges' (Parma, Ohio) 17-04.00 mark in the long jump, Kari Summers' (Troy, Ohio) time of 10:00.52 in the 3,000 meters, Melissa Wiley's (Columbus, Ohio) 26.33 finish in the 200 meters and her 8.67 mark in the 60 meter hurdles.

The Bobcats have the All-Ohio Championships at Findlay next weekend at the Zips Invite on Feb. 22 before competing in the MAC Championships on Feb. 29-March 1.
