Nick Pero is in his seventh year as the Ohio Track and Field Throws Coach and eleventh year with the Bobcat Track Team. During his time as a coach of the Bobcats, he has coached three athletes to break six Ohio University School Records in the throws, while nine of his athletes rest in Ohio's Top Five All-Time List. He has also been able to coach five athletes to the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships in the past 3 seasons, with two of them finishing in the top 10 at the meet.

As a Bobcat student-athlete, Pero was one of the team's leading scorers in the shot put, discus, hammer and weight throws. He served as a team captain for the 2001 indoor and outdoor season. Pero credits his skills to long-time coach and mentor Jack Reichenbach.

Pero's athletic career began in Hartville, Ohio, where he attended Field High School and excelled in track and football. He graduated from Ohio University in 2002 with a degree in middle childhood education in the fields of math and science. Nick spent five years as an eighth grade math teacher at Trimble Middle School until being hired full-time with the Track Team. He also has a Masters Degree from Ohio University in 2007 in Coaching Education. His certifications include USATF Level 1 and USA Weightlifting Club Coach.

Nick and his wife Jenn have two wonderful boys, Kyle and Alex.
